Purpose
Insight Out Learning uses a variety of models to explore the self, the creative idea, the realisation of that creative idea and how best to develop strategies for success. Insight Out Learning starts with identifying key motivators for success and begins with the person i.e. the participant as 'reflective practitioner'.

To demystify business we need to firstly address the person in order to identify what he or she has to offer. Are they a team player, do they avoid confrontation, do they prefer working alone, do they like to be in control or do they need a collaborator to bounce their ideas off? Understanding one's self is an important factor in helping shape future choices and career directions.

This session aims to introduce the concept of values and motivators. It will develop the participant's awareness of his or her own values and motivators and enable them to understand their own unique values in the context of a creative business environment.

Application
This is a facilitated session where discussion and group work are used to explore the participant's values and motives. This first session would normally start the Insight Out Learning programme and will enable participants to engage with further sessions in a self-informed way.

Team and group projects would benefit from this type of activity to allow the groups to understand how individuals would prefer or like to operate within a working context. This type of facilitated discussion and task driven activity can be applied to differing situations within the learning environment. It can be used to explore how individuals learn and what activities promote engagement with learning materials etc.

Duration
This session would normally be delivered within a suitable timeframe to allow appropriate discussion, usually about 2 hours. The facilitator should be mindful of participant engagement with the tasks, and move the session on as appropriate.

The Aim of this session will be to:

  • Introduce the concept of values and motivators.
  • Develop participant's awareness of his or her own values and motivators.
  • Understand their values in the context of their creative business activity.

The Learning Outcome of this session will be:

  • Participants will have identified their own values and motivators.
  • Participants will be able to articulate the relevance of understanding this learning in the context of both study and business.
